In 1938, Jennie E. Wustum honored her husband’s memory by donating their house, property, and a small trust fund to the city of Racine, Wisconsin, with the intent of creating an art museum and park that would benefit future generations. In 1941, her donation formally became the Charles A. Wustum Museum of Fine Art, the original campus of the Racine Art Museum now in Downtown Racine, through the cooperative efforts of the City of Racine and the Racine Art Association.
RAM’s Wustum Museum of Fine Arts has award-winning outreach education programs like RAM on the Road and SPARK! that deliver free hands-on experiences to students in schools and seniors in a variety of venues. Studio art classes provide opportunities to study, practice, and develop artwork from novice level to professional. Wustum also hosts popular community art exhibitions like Watercolor Wisconsin and Racine and Vicinity Show, which complement nationally recognized contemporary craft exhibitions on display within the contemporary architecture of its other campus, Racine Art Museum.
